Legitimate agencies will deduct the costs of a test shoot from your first paying gig. In most cases, you don't have to pay for a test shoot, but it is best to ask. If you do have to pay, its usually only a few hundred bucks.

Despite what you may hear, real modeling agencies will never ask you to pay for acting classes. While modeling schools are common, as are acting schools, they are not agencies. Any model management company making it mandatory to go to school through them is something to look out for.
